A Journey Though My Merchandising Skills

Fashion Merchandising

My experience in the fashion industry stems mostly from the 7 years that I've been working at Designer Shoe Warehouse, Inc. I have a great passion for fashion and this blog is dedicated to my work in merchandising. But this site portrays my merchandising skills throughout my position at Winston Retail Solutions.

American Living Mens' Dress Shirt & Neckwear
Merchandising Mens' Dress Shirts may sometimes be a bit confusing for the male counterpart. Yet after the vendor product knowledge tutorial, I can now differentiate between a french cuff or a barrel cuff and a button-down collar and a wide collar dress shirt.

BEFORE:
The bust form on the second fixture is missing. The dress shirt styles and sizes are mixed together. Also, the tie trays are low on inventory.

AFTER:
I dressed the bust form in a new style dress shirt and paired it with an appropriate tie. I used a "4-in-hand" knot for the neckwear. I made sure that the fixtures have represented the correct signage/branding and price points.

Material Girl Jewelry

Not many people know about the Material Girl jewelry line, so let me enlighten you! This 1980's style collection was inspired and designed by the one and only material girl herself, Madonna and her daughter, Lourdes. Also, they collaborate with each other in creating a clothing line geared to juniors.

BEFORE:
The mannequin looks dull and is not attracting to potential customers. The headband tube is not organized in a way to make it easier for customers to see the merchandise.

AFTER:
Using Material Girl apparel accessories like the studded belt and the purple & black scarf, the mannequin is now more attractive and features items in the clothing line. The headband tube is organized in a way so it is easier for the customers to see and touch the merchandise. I added a clear bowl on the the table that merchandises rings that were previously mixing in with the earring panels.
